  47. DESCRIPTION

  49. The IBM SolutionPac Business Adviser Financial Accounting
  50. consists of the General Accounting Edition and the
  51. Information Management Edition from the IBM Business Adviser
  52. series, installation and education services, IBM telephone
  53. support, publications to assist in implementation and
  54. training, and additional reports and productivity aids to
  55. the two IBM Business Adviser Editions.
  56.  
  57. IBM Business Adviser General Accounting Edition
  58.  
  59. The General Accounting Edition provides the user with a high
  60. function general ledger and six special journals for
  61. entering business transactions.  In addition, three
  62. subsidiary ledgers for accounts receivable, accounts
  63. payable, and payroll are built into General Accounting.
  64. General Accounting provides double entry accounting with
  65. automatic offsetting entries.  General Accounting also
  66. offers a trial balance, balance sheet, and income statement.

  68. IBM Business Adviser Information Management Edition
  69.  
  70. The Information Management Edition is an extension to the
  71. General Accounting Edition of the IBM Business Adviser
  72. series.  The user may add fields to existing files (using
  73. extension files) and design new data entry screens.  This
  74. Edition can also be used to design new reports using the
  75. information in the accounting files and information in other
  76. files that the user may have created.  It may also be used
  77. as a standalone data base product.

  79. Users Guide to Implementation
  80.  
  81. The User's Guide To Implementation is a simple, step-by-step
  82. guide to proper implementation procedures.  Topics include
  83. available support, application installation planning,
  84. protecting company files, and keyboard templates.

  86. Productivity and General Accounting Templates
  87.  
  88. Templates will be provided for the user to produce reports
  89. not offered in the existing General Accounting Edition, such
  90. as audit worksheets, a 1099 vendor report, and an asset
  91. tracking report.

  93. Information Management Edition Self-study Workbook
  94.  
  95. A workbook for the novice user of productivity software is
  96. provided.  This includes instructions for simple tasks such
  97. as designing screens and reports, as well as more complex
  98. functions like selecting records within limits and
  99. calculating totals.

  102.  
  103. IBM SolutionPac Business Adviser Financial Accounting
  104. components will be installed and made operational on the
  105. customer's hard file by the Dealer.  This installation will

  111.    the end user's hard file.

  123. Program Support Services

  125. IBM will provide the IBM SolutionPac Business Adviser
  126. Financial Accounting customer with a single point of
  127. telephone contact for reporting program defects and
  128. receiving program usage assistance for 90 days after receipt
  129. of the SolutionPac.  In addition, upon receipt of the
  130. registration card for the SolutionPac, IBM will send the
  131. customer the most current program update, if changes have
  132. been made since the product was manufactured, as well as the
  133. latest copy of the Response Line Journal, and a complete set
  134. of IBM Business Adviser reports brochures.

  136. The principal users of this product include business
  137. professionals and office and business accounting clerical
  138. personnel in small businesses or divisions of larger
  139. companies.  This SolutionPac is based on the IBM Business
  140. Adviser family of accounting and productivity licensed
  141. programs.

  147. Single Workstation Mode To execute the IBM SolutionPac
  148. Business Adviser Financial Accounting, the IBM Personal

  230. The end user shall be exclusively responsible for the
  231. supervisory management and control of the use of these
  232. programs; including audit control, operations methods and
  233. the establishment of adequate back-up plans.  The end user
  234. must provide at least the specified minimum hardware and
  235. software environment in which this SolutionPac will operate.
  236.  
  237. A security system is provided with the IBM SolutionPac
  238. Business Adviser Financial Accounting, to help restrict user
  239. access to the product functions.  Security can be specified
  240. at the task level.
  241.  
  242. User Management is responsible for evaluation, selection,
  243. and implementation of security features, for administrative
  244. procedures and for appropriate controls in application
  245. system and communication facilities.
  246.

  249. Program Services
  250.  
  251. IBM will provide the end user with telephone assistance
  252. related to program defect problems or program usage
  253. questions.  This service will be available during the first
  254. ninety days from date of receipt of the SolutionPac by the
  255. customer from IBM or IBM's authorized representative.  To
  256. utilize this service, the customer may notify the designated
  257. IBM support location during the hours indicated in the
  258. statement of service included with the SolutionPac
  259. documentation.  The support location will respond to
  260. requests for operational assistance on a best effort basis.
  261.  
  262. IBM Central Service, or a designated representative, as
  263. described in the statement of service in the program
  264. package, will respond to a defect in the unaltered portion
  265. of a supported release of a licensed program by issuing:
  266. defect correction information, such as corrected
  267. documentation, corrected code, or notice of availability of
  268. corrected code; a restriction; or a bypass.
  269.  
  270. IBM does not guarantee service results, or that the program
  271. will be error-free, or that all program defects will be
  272. corrected.
  273.  
  274. Current Program Update:  Within the program service period
  275. and upon receipt of the service registration card, IBM will
  276. send the customer the most current program update, if
  277. changes have been made since the product was manufactured.

  279. Support Booklet which is packaged with the product.

  281. Extended Support IBM Extended Support is available from IBM
  282. as a separately priced annual subscription to licensed
  283. users.  One subscription fee covers all IBM Business Adviser

  285. assistance, program service, periodic support journals, and

  343. IBM Doctors Office Manager II program.  This offering helps
  344. the medical professional gain better control of the
  345. administrative side of the business, enabling the
  346. professional to concentrate more on the health care provided
  347. to the patient.  The system can also provide financial and
  348. practice management reports to help the physician understand
  349. the status of the medical practice.

  351. The IBM SolutionPac Doctors Office Management, with easy to
  352. understand menus, is designed to help office personnel learn
  353. the system easily and become productive quickly.  Office
  354. staff need not have prior knowledge of computers or data
  355. processing.  An on-line "help" feature provides convenient,
  356. uncomplicated instructions for required tasks.  Most
  357. operations can be accomplished through a few simple
  358. keystrokes.  An extensive self-paced tutorial facility
  359. allows for training of new personnel quickly and easily.

  361. The IBM Personal Computer Network support allows up to eight
  362. IBM Personal Computers and/or Personal Systems/2 to share
  363. resources using the same patient files.  The Network also

  698. Personal System/2 Model 30 based system for the cross

  700. and printing.  The IBM Personal Pageprinter, the IBM
  701. Personal Pageprinter Adapter, the IBM Personal Pageprinter
  702. Adapter Program, and associated vendor software will be
  703. available as components in System SolutionPacs and Option
  704. SolutionPacs. Component parts will also be available
  705. separately, with the exception of Microsoft Windows and
  706. Aldus Pagemaker which will only be available through IBM as

  709. The IBM Personal Pageprinter is a compact, table top, page
  710. printer capable of printing up to 6 pages per minute
  711. utilizing a laser/ electrophotographic (EP) process.It has a
  712. new video interface which is designed to allow the printer
  713. to be coupled with an appropriate IBM Personal Computer with
  714. a large portion of what is normally regarded as printer
  715. function residing in the IBM Personal Pageprinter Adapter.

  717. The IBM Personal Pageprinter Adapter contains a M68000
  718. coprocessor used to format a page to be printed and used to
  719. control the printer.  It may be installed in an IBM Personal
  720. Computer XT 286, Personal Computer AT Models 099, 239, 319,
  721. 339, or IBM Personal System/2 Model 30.

  723. The IBM Personal Pageprinter Adapter Program contains the
  724. software, loadable to the IBM Personal Pageprinter Adapter,
  725. that performs the PostScript interpretation, page layout and

  1129.    An emulator built into the PostScript Interpreter allows

  1133.    workstation ASCII printer as well as a PostScript

  1136.    The functions of the Proprinter XL are emulated,
  1137.    including set-up functions, bit-image graphics and
  1138.    down-loadable fonts.  The various text modes are emulated
  1139.    using the Adobe Courier typeface, supplemented by fonts
  1140.    containing the remaining graphics of code page 437 (box
  1141.    drawing characters etc.)

  1143. o  When the IBM Personal Pageprinter Adapter is used to
  1144.    emulate a standard Personal Computer parallel printer
  1145.    adapter, the PostScript Interpreter accepts data
  1146.    transferred byte-by-byte from the Personal Computer and
  1147.    passes it to the Proprinter XL emulator.  When the IBM
  1148.    Personal Pageprinter Adapter is used in enhanced mode,
  1149.    the PostScript Interpreter supports high-speed,
  1150.    bi-directional transfers of data packets.  In enhanced
  1151.    mode, the Personal Computer can evoke either the
  1152.    PostScript Interpreter or the Proprinter XL emulator
  1153.    functions of the PostScript Interpreter.

  1155. o  The PostScript Interpreter supports the downloading from
  1156.    the Personal Computer, and uploading to the Personal
  1157.    Computer of font caches.  The font cache is a repository
  1158.    for text characters in raster form, created dynamically
  1159.    from general-purpose vector forms.  By using raster
  1160.    representations from the cache whenever they exist, the
  1161.    performance of the interpreter is improved.  The contents
  1162.    of the cache varies with the "document profile" i.e.,
  1163.    the set of typeface and point sizes used.  The ability to
  1164.    save and later restore the cache can improve performance
  1165.    by reducing still further the number of vector symbols
  1166.    that need to be rastered.  This applies particularly to
  1167.    the initial pages produced that correspond to a
  1168.    particular "profile".
  1169.  
  1170. Personal Computer Software:  Personal Computer software
  1171. supporting the printing subsystem consists of the following
  1172. programming and data:
  1173.  
  1174. o  Packet Driver:  The packet driver is a device handler
  1175.    routine, called by software interrupt, that controls
  1176.    "enhanced mode"  transfers of data packets to and from
  1177.    the PostScript Interpreter.  It is installed as resident
  1178.    DOS extension during system setup.
  1179.  
  1180. o  Enhanced Printer Driver:  The enhanced printer driver is
  1181.    a DOS device driver supporting packet-mode transfers to
  1182.    the PostScript Interpreter in a Microsoft Windows
  1183.    environment.  It is invoked via DOS from the Windows
  1184.    communications driver and interfaces to the packet
  1185.    driver.

  1187. o  Load Utility:  The load utility reads the file containing
  1188.    the PostScript Interpreter and downloads it to the IBM
  1189.    Personal Pageprinter Adapter.

  1191. o  Print Profile Loader:  The print profile loader controls
  1192.    the printing environment by sending data files and
  1193.    default values to the PostScript Interpreter.

  1507.  
  1508. As a PostScript printer and Personal PagePrinter Adapter
  1509. combination, it is compatible with other (non-IBM)
  1510. PostScript printers in that it supports the full PostScript
  1511. programming language defined in the PostScript Language
  1512. Reference Manual by Adobe Systems Incorporated (published by
  1513. Addison-Wesley).  In addition, the IBM adaption-specified
  1514. functions are supported.

  1516. There are three PostScript interfaces to the printer:
  1517.  
  1518. 1. Packet Driver
  1519.  
  1520.    The Packet Driver, called by software interrupt, presents
  1521.    a BIOS-level interface.  This is a new interface,
  1522.    designed specifically to support high-speed transfers of
  1523.    data between the Personal Computer and the PostScript
  1524.    interpreter running in the IBM Personal Pageprinter
  1525.    Adapter Program.
  1526.  
  1527. 2. Printer Driver
  1528.  
  1529.    The Printer Driver is an installable DOS device driver,
  1530.    that interfaces to the Packet Driver.  It is designed to
  1531.    support PostScript printing, primarily in the Windows or
  1532.    DOS environment.
  1533.  
  1534. 3. Standalone Print Utility
  1535.  
  1536.    This utility allows one or more DOS files to be sent as
  1537.    PostScript files to the PostScript interpreter via the
  1538.    Packet Driver.  (It also supports ASCII printing)
  1539.  
  1540. ASCII Printer
  1541.  
  1542. As an ASCII printer, it is compatible at a BIOS level with
  1543. any Personal Computer program issuing the ROM BIOS INT 17H
  1544. call, and at an adapter level with the Personal Computer
  1545. parallel printer adapter set to port 2.
  1546.  
  1547. At a data stream and functional level, it is compatible with
  1548. the IBM 4202 Proprinter XL with the following observations:
  1549.  
  1550. The default font of the 4202 is emulated by the Courier font
  1551. with extensions for block graphics characters etc.
  1552. Emphasized mode is emulated using Courier Bold.  In
  1553. addition, a mode can be set which will allow PostScript to
  1554. be printed via ROM BIOS INT 17H.
  1555.  
  1556. Writing line:  The 4202 has a maximum writing line of 13.6
  1557. inches.  IBM Personal Pageprinter (4216-020) supports a
  1558. maximum paper width of 8.5 inches.  The 4202 emulator
  1559. function of the PostScript Interpreter supports a maximum
  1560. writing line of 8.0 inches (like the 4201).  The emulator
  1561. treats lines longer than current paper width (0.5 inches) in
  1562. the same way as a 4201, i.e.,  by wrapping text onto the
  1563. next line and by truncating graphics.  In addition, set
  1564. margin controls that would set a margin beyond current paper
  1565. width (0.5 inches) are ignored.
  1566.  
  1567. Text modes:  The Proprinters trade off speed against quality
  1568. and thus distinguish between draft and NLQ quality.  No such
  1569. trade off applies to the emulator.  Draft and NLQ appear the
  1570. same.
  1571.  
  1572. APPLICATION SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY

  1575. programs, IBM and non-IBM, will be provided prior to first

  1579.  
  1580. The PageMaker from Aldus Corporation announced for the IBM
  1581. Personal Computer runs under Microsoft Windows on a minimum
  1582. configuration specified by Microsoft Windows and supports
  1583. the importing of data:

  1585. PageMaker is a licensed software product that provides the
  1586. ability to electronically layout pages that are formatted
  1587. for camera ready copy or typesetting.
  1588.  
  1589. PageMaker integrates Personal Computer DOS files from a
  1590. variety of licensed software products including text files,
  1591. such as DisplayWrite, in the Revisable Form Text Document
  1592. Content Architecture (RFTDCA), scanned images in a Tag Image
  1593. File Format (TIFF), Encapsulated PostScript and a variety of
  1594. PC Graphic Programs.

  2266. creating/editing drawings.  Once the desired level is
  2267. selected, all changes are restricted to that level.  The

  2620. The IBM SolutionPac Legal Profession Series offering is
  2621. designed for all attorneys and in general for the law firm
  2622. considering automation or changing their automated
  2623. environment to new technology or experiencing
  2624. dissatisfaction with their present system.  It incorporates
  2625. many of windowing and contextual on-line help features in an
  2626. ergonomically sound software design.  It is also menu driven
  2627. to help the novice and occasional user.
  2628.  
  2629. By using templates and on-line help screens, the
  2630. inexperienced user can make the system become functional
  2631. quickly.  Also, through the incorporation of integrated
  2632. menus, the user gains access to increasing amounts of
  2633. company data as they become more familiar with the functions
  2634. available in the system.

  2636. The IBM SolutionPac Legal Profession Series configurations
  2637. for "Lawyer's Assistant," "Law Firm Secretarial," "Law Firm
  2638. Financial," and "Law Firm Practice Management" provide the
  2639. following function:

  2641. o  "Lawyer's Assistant" includes a word processing program
  2642.    the legal professional can use to create, edit, save, and
  2643.    print documents and a filing program for managing
  2644.    information about people, places, objects, and events.
  2645.    Also included is the ability to produce tabular reports
  2646.    and a planning program to use for numerical planning,
  2647.    tracking, analyzing, and reporting along with the ability
  2648.    to quickly retrieve stored documents.  The word
  2649.    processing program is enhanced by the inclusion of a
  2650.    legal dictionary and the use of legal templates (sample
  2651.    legal forms) in the tutorial.  This IBM SolutionPac
  2652.    configuration also comes with an installation diskette
  2653.    and a Getting Started booklet.

  2655. o  "Law Firm Secretarial" gives the legal secretary high
  2656.    function text processing capabilities for extensive text
  2657.    editing, formatting, and printing capabilities.  The
  2658.    inclusion of a legal dictionary, a program that can
  2659.    generate a table of contents, alphabetical index or
  2660.    reference listing, an installation diskette, and a
  2661.    Getting Started booklet completes this IBM SolutionPac
  2662.    configuration.

  2664. o  "Law Firm Financial" provides the law firm with a program
  2665.    that records client and other financial data that
  2666.    includes time, disbursement, trust, billings, and
  2667.    accounts receivables.  This IBM SolutionPac configuration
  2668.    maintains complete and timely information for law firms
  2669.    to control overhead and cash flow and to manage their
  2670.    financial progress.

  2672. o  "Law Firm Practice Management" provides control for
  2673.    litigation documents by collecting, organizing, and
  2674.    indexing all case related data.  The program is also
  2675.    capable of providing the information to administer and
  2676.    locate client files, keeping client information in a

  2678.    professional of bring forward dates.  Clerical tasks are
  2679.    reduced as files are efficiently administered and easily

  2682. The IBM SolutionPac will contain software modules, provide
  2683. dealer installation of the software programs, provide
  2684. tutorial training and end-user telephone assistance for a 90

  2689. Manac Information System for Attorneys -- Omnilaw is a
  2690. required module for the other modules and contains

  2695. configuration.  For example, the Manac Information System

  2697. Lawyers Assistant configuration.  All modules, or
  2698. combinations of modules, may co-exist on the same hardware
  2699. as long as the Manac Information System for Attorneys --
  2700. Omnilaw is present.

  2703. requires other than the previously recommended
  2704. configurations.  The customer may elect to purchase Manac
  2705. Information System for Attorneys- Omnilaw and any of the
  2706. other modules.  For example the customer may buy Manac

  2714. The Manac Omnilaw system is the controller and menu manager
  2715. for the IBM SolutionPac Legal Profession Series.  The system
  2716. has special purpose menus that incorporate functions
  2717. according to the specialized needs of particular types of
  2718. law firm users.

  2720. Manac Information System For Attorneys -- Litigation Support
  2721.  
  2722. The Manac Litigation Support system provides control for
  2723. litigation documentation management.  All case related data
  2724. is collected, organized and indexed.  Once recorded, the
  2725. information may be instantly retrieved as required.  The
  2726. information may be displayed on a screen or printed.

  2728. Manac Information System For Attorneys -- Client Files,
  2729. Conflict And Dates

  2731. The Manac Client Files, Conflict and Dates program provides
  2732. the information to administer and locate client files.  File
  2733. descriptive information is available on a client directory.
  2734. Lawyers are notified of bring forward dates.  When closed,
  2735. the archives number and date to destroy are noted.  This
  2736. system reduces clerical tasks and ensures files are
  2737. efficiently administered and easily located.

  2739. This program records and monitors all docket, limitation,
  2740. prescription and court procedural date deadlines in the law
  2741. firm.  An unlimited number of dates may be recorded for each
  2742. client file.  Each date is recorded with a description of
  2743. the action required, a due date, a target date, the court or
  2744. reference number, the lawyer responsible or the lawyer
  2745. assigned to the date, location of the activity and the
  2746. opposing lawyer.

  2748. Manac Information System For Attorneys -- Client And Lawyer
  2749. Financial
  2750.  
  2751. Manac Client and Lawyer Financial records client and other
  2752. financial data including time, disbursements, trust,
  2753. billings, and accounts receivable.  Client financial
  2754. management reports and billing status are available on
  2755. demand.  Lawyers are provided with timely information to
  2756. manage the financial aspects of their client files.

  2758. This program simplifies the client statement preparation
  2759. procedure by automatically printing client statements ready
  2760. to mail in a variety of formats.

  2762. This program provides information which assists in the
  2763. collection of accounts receivable.  Reminder statements may
  2764. be sent and interest may be charged to all or selective
  2765. clients.

  2787. end-user training on the use of the IBM SolutionPac.  The
  2788. training is in the form of IBM SolutionPac orientation by
  2789. the Dealer at the time of installation.  This training will
  2790. familiarize the end-user with the use of the IBM SolutionPac
  2791. Legal Profession Series software, operating procedures, use
  2792. of documentation, and define where assistance is provided.
  2793. Additionally, tutorial instruction/examples are provided
  2794. within the software modules.

  2796. Installation Services
  2797.  
  2798. IBM SolutionPac Legal Profession Series will be installed
  2799. and made operational on the customer's hard file by the
  2800. Dealer.  This installation will include:

  2805.    on the end user's hard file

  2821. users with a single point of telephone contact at no charge
  2822. for 90 days from the receipt of the SolutionPac.  The
  2823. telephone assistance can provide support to end-users for
  2824. suspected program failures and program usage assistance.  It
  2825. provides end-users with interaction to the Designated IBM
  2826. Support Center and, when required, assistance from the
  2827. software developers.

  2898. Omnilaw is a prerequisite for the IBM SolutionPac-Legal
  2899. Profession Series and must be ordered with each new
  2900. SolutionPac installation.

  2902. Each package contains the applicable licensing agreement on
  2903. view on the external packaging.
  2904.  
  2905. The end user shall be exclusively responsible for the
  2906. supervisory management and control of the use of these
  2907. programs; including audit control, operations methods and
  2908. the establishment of adequate back-up plans.  The end user
  2909. must provide at least the minimum hardware and software
  2910. environment in which the IBM SolutionPac will operate.
  2911.  
  2912. The end-user is responsible for evaluation, selection and
  2913. implementation of security features, for administrative
  2914. procedures and for appropriate controls in application
  2915. systems and communication facilities.  If sensitive data is
  2916. sent over external communication facilities, the end-user
  2917. may wish to pursue the application of cryptography.
  2918. Limited Warranty:  The IBM SolutionPac - Legal Profession
  2919. Series is provided "as is" by IBM.  Warranty, if any, for
  2920. the individual programs is as provided by the program
  2921. supplier.  Address any questions pertaining to warranty
  2922. coverage to the program supplier.
  2923.  
  2924. The terms and conditions of the IBM Program License
  2925. Agreement (Z125-3301) apply to each IBM Assistant Series and
  2926. IBM DisplayWrite 4 programs.  A copy of the agreement will
  2927. be included on each package.  The customer is advised that
  2928. opening the package indicates acceptance of these terms and
  2929. conditions.  No signature is required.
  2930.  
  2931. Program Services
  2932.  
  2933. IBM will provide the end user with 90 day telephone
  2934. assistance related to program defect problems or program
  2935. usage questions.  This service will be available during the
  2936. first ninety days from the date of receipt by the customer
  2937. from IBM or IBM's authorized representative.  To utilize
  2938. this service,  the customer must notify the designated IBM
  2939. support location during the hours indicated in the Statement
  2940. of Service included with the IBM SolutionPac documentation.
  2941. The support location will respond to requests for
  2942. operational assistance on a best effort basis.
  2943.  
  2944. IBM Central Service, or a designated representative, will
  2945. respond to a defect in the unaltered portion of a supported
  2946. release of the licensed program by issuing:  defect
  2947. correction information such as corrected documentation,
  2948. corrected code, or notice of availability of corrected code;
  2949. a restriction; or a bypass.
  2950.  
  2951. IBM does not guarantee service results, or that the program
  2952. will be error free, or that all program defects will be
  2953. corrected.

  3125. number of users.  The custom reporter module (TS-Report I)
  3126. allows the user to customize within the application through
  3127. the creation of unique reports.  TS-Report I also interfaces
  3128. with other program products such as Lotus 1-2-3(R) and
  3129. WordStar(R).

  3132. appropriate information between modules.  For example, job

  3190. are necessary in the operation and maintenance of the
  3191. Timberline accounting system.  Areas such as backup, screen
  3192. and keyboard orientation, daily operations, template
  3193. facilities, audit trail, utilities and end of period
  3194. functions are covered in a straightforward way.

  3200. The Timberline Accounts Payable software, included in the
  3201. appropriate SolutionPac, is integrated with other Timberline

  3204. the SolutionPac by passing the appropriate accounting
  3205. information to general ledger.  The software is designed for
  3206. the first-time user.  Layered functionality is a feature of
  3207. Timberline Accounts Payable that advances with the needs of
  3208. the user by providing extended capability and function as
  3209. required in a specific environment.

  3211. The accounts payable module provides a new level of control
  3212. over cash flow and the management of payments to vendors.
  3213. Some of the features of accounts payable include the capture
  3214. of invoices and direct payments that can assist in improved
  3215. cash management; the selection of invoices for payment by
  3216. due date, vendor code or several other choices; and the
  3217. processing of common exceptions, such as one time only
  3218. vendors and manual checks.

  3234. Timberline Architect/Engineer (A/E) is an integrated project
  3235. management, billing and accounting package for architects
  3236. and engineers.  Timberline A/E integrates with other
  3237. Medallion Collection software modules, included in the
  3238. SolutionPac, by passing the appropriate accounting
  3239. information to payroll, accounts payable and general ledger.
  3240. The system offers a range of billing types from hourly to
  3241. phased fees based on percent of construction cost.
  3242.  
  3243. Single entry input through A/E provides the necessary
  3244. information to generate payroll checks, billings and
  3245. numerous project tracking reports that are formatted at the
  3246. discretion of the end user.  Through Timberline's Template
  3247. option, the user has control over the amount, content and
  3248. timing of each report requested.
  3249.  
  3250. Timberline A/E is menu driven and has on-screen help and
  3251. listing capabilities, password file protection and special
  3252. function keys.  The A/E system will also support a
  3253. multicompany accounting structure.

  3255. Timberline General Ledger
  3256.  
  3257. The Timberline General Ledger software integrates with other
  3258. Medallion Collection  software modules, included in the
  3259. SolutionPac, by receiving accounting entries from payroll,
  3260. accounts payable, architect/engineer and Job Cost.  The
  3261. software is designed for the first-time user.  Layered
  3262. functionality is a feature of Timberline General Ledger that
  3263. advances with the needs of the user by providing extended
  3264. capability and function as required in a specific
  3265. environment.

  3267. Both standard reports and user defined reports can be
  3268. created by the system.  Some of the standard reports include
  3269. trial balance, working trial balance, year-to-date ledger,
  3270. depreciation schedule and current ledger.  The income
  3271. statement, statement of changes in financial position and
  3272. balance sheet can be user adjusted to reflect the format and
  3273. comparisons desired by the end user.

  3275. The software comes with documentation and a tutorial with a
  3276. sample problem to simplify learning and use of the general
  3277. ledger.

  3279. Timberline Job Cost
  3280.  
  3281. The Timberline Job Cost module helps contractors maintain
  3282. records of costs in a straightforward way.

  3284. The Timberline Job Cost system also helps provide accurate,
  3285. timely information.  All reports have a variety of optional
  3286. formats, are easily produced and are adaptable to each
  3287. contractor's specific needs.

  3289. Timberline Job Cost is integrated with the estimating,
  3290. general ledger, payroll and accounts payable modules.
  3291. Timberline Job Cost integrates with other Medallion
  3292. Collection software modules, included in the appropriate
  3293. SolutionPac, by accepting budget information from the
  3294. estimating module and passing accounting information to
  3295. payroll, accounts payable and general ledger.  The program
  3296. is menu driven with on-screen help and listing capabilities,
  3297. password file protection and special function keys.  The job
  3298. cost system will also support a multicompany accounting
  3299. structure.

  3301. Timberline Payroll
  3302.  
  3303. The Timberline Payroll software integrates with other
  3304. Medallion Collection software modules, included in the
  3305. appropriate SolutionPac, by passing the appropriate
  3306. accounting information to general ledger.  The software is
  3307. designed for the first-time user.  Layered functionality is
  3308. a feature of Timberline Payroll that advances with the needs
  3309. of the user by providing extended capability and function as
  3310. required in a specific environment.

  3312. The payroll module helps provide for the automated
  3313. processing of checks, tax calculations, deductions, payroll
  3314. and tax reporting and generation of entries for the general
  3315. ledger.  Payroll also can help produce weekly, biweekly,
  3316. semimonthly and monthly reports and help process up to 40
  3317. types of miscellaneous deductions that are user defined.
  3318. Payroll calculates up to 20 other pays including vacation,
  3319. holiday, sick pay and more.

  3321. Payroll also calculates the withholding of and accounting
  3322. for federal, state and other taxes and also prints 941a and
  3323. W-2 forms.  Accounting control is provided through the use
  3324. of audit trails and optional password security over files.

  3328. Timberline TS-Report I
  3329.  
  3330. TS-Report I is designed to provide the user with the ability
  3331. to create custom designed reports that supplement the
  3332. existing reporting provided in Timberline software modules.
  3333. TS-Report I can access the files of any Timberline software
  3334. accounting module to create reports, and the module is
  3335. designed to produce columnar reports from a selected master
  3336. of transaction files created by a Timberline software
  3337. product.
  3338.  
  3339. TS-Report I allows the user to select data elements
  3340. contained within the file in the order of appearance desired
  3341. for the report.  The report designer process is menu driven
  3342. to know what information is available in files selected for
  3343. reporting.  In addition to selecting the columnar
  3344. information to be printed on the report, TS-Report I also
  3345. allows for control over what information is listed on the
  3346. report through higher than, less than or equal to testing of
  3347. data in the print process.  The report designer controls the
  3348. parameters under which report information is printed.
  3349.  
  3350. Report output can be presented in any sort order selected by
  3351. the user.  Some examples of reports that can be created by
  3352. TS-Report I are an alphabetical vendor list showing address
  3353. and phone number; a list of jobs in progress by order of job
  3354. contract amount; a list of active hourly employees; a chart
  3355. of accounts listed in alphabetical order; and a list of
  3356. job/phase titles.  TS-Reporter I provides the means to
  3357. extract information from data files to be presented in
  3358. columnar reports.

  3360. The IBM SolutionPac Construction Industry Series provides
  3361. end-user training on the use of the SolutionPac  The
  3362. training is in the form of SolutionPac orientation by the
  3363. Dealer or Value Added Dealer at the time of installation.
  3364. This training should familiarize the end-user with the use
  3365. of the Construction Industry Series SolutionPac software,
  3366. operating procedures, use of documentation, and identify
  3367. where assistance is available.

  3369. Installation Services
  3370.  
  3371. IBM SolutionPac Construction Industry Series components will
  3372. be installed and made operational on the customer's hard
  3373. file by the Dealer.  This installation will include:
  3374.  
  3375. o  Presenting and reviewing all license agreements
  3376.  
  3377. o  Loading all diskettes provided with the SolutionPac on
  3378.    the end user's hard file.
  3379.  
  3380. o  Configuring the SolutionPac as outlined in the
  3381.    installation documentation.
  3382.  
  3383. o  Conducting a review of all documentation provided with
  3384.    the SolutionPac
  3385.  
  3386. o  Completing the "How to get Started" section of the
  3387.    tutorial.
  3388.  
  3389. o  Ensuring the SolutionPac is operational.

  3391. Program Support Services
  3392.  
  3393. The IBM SolutionPac Construction Industry Series provides
  3394. telephone assistance to the end user for usage questions and
  3395. for reporting suspected software failures.  The support
  3396. provides interaction between the end user and the software
  3397. vendor (Timberline Software, Inc.).  All support assistance
  3398. is provided through the support number for the IBM
  3399. SolutionPac Construction Industry Series SolutionPac and is
  3400. available during Timberline Software, Inc.  normal business
  3401. hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific time, Monday thru
  3402. Friday with the exception of holidays.  Telephone support is
  3403. available at no charge for 90 days from date of receipt of
  3404. the SolutionPac.  For additional information on this support

  3407. The Construction Industry Series SolutionPacs are unique in
  3408. that they offer the End User a defined software
  3409. solution for specific segments of the industry.  The IBM
  3410. SolutionPac Construction Industry Series provides the
  3411. software applications appropriate for the defined
  3412. Construction environments.
  3413.  
  3414. The SolutionPac is available in three configurations to suit
  3415. the needs of individual segments of the Construction
  3416. Industry.  The SolutionPac will also have the capability of
  3417. integrating optional application modules (available from
  3418. Timberline Systems, Inc.) that provide enhanced function.
  3419.  
  3420. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  3421.  
  3422. Hardware Requirements:  The Construction Industry Series
  3423. SolutionPacs require an IBM PC, PC AT, PC XT(TM), IBM
  3424. Personal System/2(TM) Model 30, 50 or 60, with 512Kb RAM
  3425. (for single user version) or 640Kb RAM (for network
  3426. version), a hard disk, 24 X 80 column display, printer, or
  3427. equivalents.
  3428.  
  3429. Software Requirements:  The Construction SolutionPacs
  3430. require a minimum of DOS 2.1 for the single user version and
  3431. a minimum of DOS 3.1 for the network version when installed
  3432. on the IBM PC, PC AT OR PC XT.  When installed on IBM
  3433. Personal System/2 Model 30, 50 or 60 -- DOS 3.3 is required.
  3434.  
  3435. Packaging:  Each Construction Industry Series SolutionPac is
  3436. packaged with an IBM SolutionPac logo and reference to
  3437. Timberline Software, Inc.  software.  Terms and Conditions
  3438. related to the SolutionPac and the enclosed Vendor Logo
  3439. Software are visible to the customer prior to opening the
  3440. SolutionPac container.
  3441.  
  3442. Labels, affixed to the package, denote the following:

  3461. Series will be the Timberline logo software products as
  3462. defined in the section entitled "Description".  Each
  3463. Timberline software product contained in the individual
  3464. SolutionPac will be individually packaged with the
  3465. Timberline Software, Inc. Program License contained in the
  3466. package and visible to the Customer, prior to opening of the
  3467. Timberline Software, Inc. Program Product.
  3468.  
  3469. The end user shall be exclusively responsible for
  3470. supervisory management and control of the use of these
  3471. programs; including audit control, operations methods and
  3472. the establishment of adequate backup plans.
  3473.  
  3474. The end user must provide at least the specified minimum
  3475. hardware and software environment in which these SolutionPac
  3476. will operate.
  3477.  
  3478. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection and
  3479. implementation of security features, for administrative
  3480. procedures and for appropriate controls in application
  3481. systems and communication facilities.  If sensitive data is
  3482. sent over external communication facilities, user management
  3483. may wish to pursue the application of cryptography.
  3484.  
  3485. Warranty Period:  Media:  90 days, from Timberline Systems
  3486.  
  3487. The IBM SolutionPac Construction Industry Series is provided
  3488. "as is" by IBM.  Warranty, if any, for the individual
  3489. program is as provided by the program supplier.  Address any
  3490. questions pertaining to warranty coverage to the program
  3491. supplier.
  3492.  
  3493. Program Services
  3494.  
  3495. Timberline Software, Inc.  (IBM designated representative)
  3496. will provide the end user with telephone assistance related
  3497. to program defect problems or program usage questions.  This
  3498. service will be available during the first ninety days from
  3499. date of receipt of the registration card from the customer
  3500. by IBM or IBM's authorized representative, but not later
  3501. then December 31, 1989.  To utilize this service, the
  3502. customer may notify the designated Timberline Software, Inc.
  3503. support location during the hours indicated in the statement
  3504. of service included with the IBM SolutionPac documentation.
  3505. The support location will respond to requests for
  3506. operational assistance on a best effort basis.
  3507.  
  3508. The Timberline Software, Inc.  support location will respond
  3509. to a defect in the unaltered portion of a supported release
  3510. of a licensed program by issuing:  defect corrected
  3511. information, such as corrected documentation, corrected
  3512. code, or notice of availability of corrected code; a
  3513. restriction, or a bypass.
  3514.  
  3515. IBM does not guarantee service results, or that the program
  3516. will be error-free, or that all program defects will be
  3517. corrected.
  3518.  
  3519. Current Program Update
  3520.  
  3521. Within the program service period and upon receipt of the
  3522. service registration card, IBM or its designated
  3523. representative, will send the customer the most current
  3524. program update, if changes have been made since the product
  3525. was manufactured.  Instructions for registering the product
  3526. are in the Getting Started Card which is packaged with the
  3527. product.
